In October I got to spend the better part of two weeks with some of the worlds strongest and most inspirational children. I was asked to document The 2013 Champions trip for the Children’s Miracle Network. It has taken me a while to get these images together for a blog post, and warning, there are a lot of them! Maybe it’s because I had a baby two months ago, or maybe I just wanted to hold on to these for a while. I honestly still can’t get through them without crying, especially the dance party at the end of the trip, which you’ll have to tune in for part two to see. These kids know how to move! This trip meant so much to me, I witnessed some of the most spirited and awe inspiring kids, and got to hear their stories of triumph. Amy Hackworth traveled along with us too, she is an amazing writer and had some great words about the importance of Children’s Hospitals on Design Mom. These kids got to meet all kinds of celebrities, go to Disney world, and ride a private Charter flight by Delta, the Champion One! And I got to document the whole thing. I cannot thank Miranda and the staff at the Children’s Miracle Network enough for this opportunity. I will forever treasure this experience. There is something so special about all of these kids. I still think about them every day, and probably will for a while. I am breaking up the post into two parts, so here is part one, the first part of our trip in Orlando.
Also a huge thanks to Acme Camera, who helped me out with some extra gear for the trip!
